Fees

Getting started costs nothing. No upfront advisory fee. No integration fee. No setup, admin, or onboarding fee. No minimums to negotiate.

You connect to one SMA, generate your invite codes, and you're live, the same way you'd spin up Stripe to start taking payments. You only ever pay when you earn.

You earn performance fees. MakeBanc charges a payment processing fee on what you earn, set by your tier, not a share of the fees themselves.

The payment processing fee rate decreases as your total AUT on the platform grows. The platform fee (1%) and insurance fee (1%) are paid by investors, not by you.

What you earn:

You earn a performance fee, typically 30% on gains above the high water mark. That is your revenue.

MakeBanc charges a payment processing fee on what you earn: a percentage of your earned performance fees, set by your tier, never a share of AUT and never a cut of the performance fee itself. The rate falls as your AUT grows. See The Tier Program.

No performance, no payment processing fee. If a strategy is flat or down, you earn nothing and MakeBanc charges nothing.

What investors pay, not you:

Two recurring fees are paid by investors and accrue daily into NAV. Neither is charged to you.

  • Platform fee, 1% per year. Covers institutional custody and the MakeBanc infrastructure: the vaults, the NAV oracle, settlement, and reporting.
  • Insurance fee, 1% per year. A 100% pass-through of the insurance cost. MakeBanc keeps none of it.

Investors see NAV already net of both. Your only cost is the payment processing fee on the performance fees you earn.

Performance fee mechanics:

How your performance fee crystallises and settles

Crystallisation. Performance fees only accrue when NAV per share is above the high water mark, and only crystallise at scheduled events (monthly, per your agreement). Between events, the fee accrues in shadow form, visible on your dashboard, not yet earned. At crystallisation, the shadow accrual becomes real: the fee is transferred from the vault to escrow, MakeBanc's payment processing fee is taken per your tier, and the remainder settles to your wallet.

On-chain settlement. At each settlement event, the vault contract calculates the performance fee crystallised for the period, takes MakeBanc's payment processing fee per your tier, transfers the remainder to your designated wallet, and transfers the payment processing fee to the fee receiver. Settlement is on-chain, visible on Base. You can audit the calculation against NAV-per-share history and share count. MakeBanc sends a statement breaking out: performance fee crystallised, payment processing fee taken, net to wallet.

Dispute window. Ten business days from statement issuance to query the figures: performance fee calculation, payment processing fee, or tier classification. If a query results in a correction, MakeBanc issues a restated statement and the difference settles at the next event. After ten business days, the statement is final.

Settlement address. You designate a USDC settlement address on Base during onboarding. Changes require a signature from the previously designated address. MakeBanc doesn't hold your earned fees beyond the settlement cycle; the fee escrow is programmatic, not custodial.

At termination. Shadow-accrued performance fees crystallise at termination if the strategy is in profit above the high water mark. If below, no performance fee is owed. No further fees accrue. The strategy winds down per the process in SMA account setup.
