If MakeBanc goes offline
The question that decides everything else.
The short answer:
Your assets remain on-chain. Your vault shares remain yours. You can still redeem.
MakeBanc is the UI, not the custodian. Going offline doesn't move funds, freeze accounts, or invalidate contracts. Smart contracts on Base keep running.
What "offline" could mean:
Temporary outage. Assets unaffected. Wait for it to come back.
Company wound down. Contracts on Base continue. Redeem through them directly.
Regulatory order in a jurisdiction. Interface access may change. On-chain position unaffected. Redemption rights enforceable.
In every case, the on-chain layer governs access to your assets.
How redemption works without the platform:
ERC-7540 vault contracts on Base are public and verifiable. Addresses in Smart contract addresses. Any compatible interface can interact with them.
If MakeBanc is permanently unavailable, use the vault contract directly. BaseScan, your wallet's contract feature, or any ERC-7540 interface.
The steps are the same:
- Submit a redemption request to the vault contract.
- Wait for processing at the start of the next month.
- Claim your redeemed assets to your wallet.
The monthly cadence and the asset manager's role in funding redemptions are properties of the SMA agreement and vault rules. They continue regardless of the platform's status.
What about the asset manager:
The asset manager is separate from MakeBanc, with their own SMA agreement directly with Ceffu. If the platform stops, the asset manager's obligations don't disappear.
In practice, a wind-down triggers orderly redemptions. The asset manager funds the queue. You receive your proportional share. Capital returns to wallets.
The architecture is designed to minimise the risk of assets becoming inaccessible, even if the platform stops operating.
What you can verify today:
You don't need to take this on faith. Verify now, before you allocate:
- Vault contracts are on Base, viewable on BaseScan. Audit reports published. Addresses in the resources section.
- Your vault shares are visible in your wallet. On-chain balance independent of the platform.
- The Ceffu custody arrangement exists in the SMA agreement between asset manager and Ceffu, outside MakeBanc.
What this is not:
Not a guarantee MakeBanc will never have outages. Things break. The team restores service.
This is a design property of the architecture: your access to your assets does not depend on the platform being online.
Your ownership is recorded on-chain from the moment you allocate. The architecture is designed to preserve that record and your redemption rights independently of the platform.
